83rd Academy Awards: Nominations

Sebenarnya secara general, nominatornya sebagian besar sudah bisa ditebak, tapi apakah 'seru'nya awards season without some surprises and snubs, right?

Bagi gw, hal yang gw consider sebagai major snubs adalah: No Nolan for Directing. Inception menurut gw adalah salah satu film terbaik tahun lalu. Heck, it got 8 nominations for this year's Oscar, including Best Picture. Christopher Nolan sendiri beberapa saat yang lalu juga mendapat praise sebagai nominator DGA tahun ini. This is marked the 3rd time Nolan got snubbed at the Oscar after having recognition from the DGA, first it was for Memento, and second, for the amazing The Dark Knight. What has Nolan done to you, Academy, so you won't nominate him? I'd nominate him in a hearbeat. Moving on.... I, too, hate the fact that they left Andrew Garfield out of the Supporting Actor nominees. Yes, he didn't get the support from the SAG, but come on, he did awesome with his character in The Social Network. Other than those 2 snubs, I pretty much okay with the rest of the nominees. Berbeda dengan PGA, Winter's Bone menggantikan posisi The Town di lineup Best Picture, lalu Javier Bardem ikut menyelip di barisan Leading Actor, no Burlesque (poor Christina) in song categoriy, yay for Reznor & Ross, another yay for Toy Story 3's song, also 2 nods for Deathly Hallows made me smile.

Melihat nominasinya, harapan gw semakin pupus menyadari bahwa chance The Social Network (jagoan gw untuk Oscar tahun ini) memenangkan Best Picture semakin mengecil. Dengan kemenangan shocking The King's Speech di PGA beberapa hari yang lalu serta dominasi nominasi di Oscar (12 freaking nods), menunjukkan bahwa The King's Speech menjadi film yang paling memiliki potensi untuk menang. Dibelakang TKS, ada True Grit dengan 10 nominasi, lalu Inception& TSN dengan 8, The Fighter dengan 7. Kalau TKS lanjut memenangkan DGA dan SAG minggu ini... well it's an obvious race at the Oscar. Sedih rasanya untuk Social Network, such an amazing movie with an unbeatable force to won every previous awards has to lose at the final moment. But hey, selama janur kuning belum melengkung, masih ada harapan untuk film ini hehe apapun yang terjadi, Social Network, aku padamuuuuu.

Nuff wif the rumblings, so here's the nominees.......
