5th VAMPIBOTS ANNUAL LIST: Best Posters

Selamat datang di entry pertama dalam jajaran 5th Vampibots Annual List; Best Posters! Seperti yang saya selalu katakan, poster film adalah salah satu yang selalu saya tunggu kehadirannya; baik film yang benar-benar saya antisipasi atau tidak (makanya saya selalu suka nongkrong di situs IMP). Walaupun originalitas dan keunikan mungkin sudah mulai pudar dalam poster-poster film sekarang ini, tetapi ternyata masih banyak yang mampu mencuri perhatian saya. Tahun ini, ada sedikit hal yang berbeda. Saya membagi Best Posters menjadi dua kategori besar; Teaser dan Theatrical. Serta saya juga membubuhkan beberapa Honorable Mentions yang tak kalah catchy. Without further ado, here are my picks for last year's best posters!

4th Vampibots Annual List: Top 10 Posters of 2012

Poster adalah satu bentuk promosi yang selalu saya tunggu-tunggu dalam rilisnya sebuah film. As someone who's interested so much in art, mengecek poster film bagi saya adalah sebuah 'hiburan wajib' tersendiri. Poster memang tidak semerta-merta bentuk penilaian bahwa suatu film itu bagus atau jelek. Ada poster yang bagus tapi filmnya jelek, atau sebaliknya. Don't judge a book by its cover, don't judge a film by its poster. But judging poster by the pictures instead? Lets do it!

Vampibots Annual List 2011: Top 10 Movie Posters

Foreword: Vampibots presents: Vampibots Annual List 2011. This special segment is annual awards that I'm gonna do every year. I actually have started to make Top 10 List since 2009, but just made an official name for this year's edition (2011). Vampibots Annual List will consist not only the coveted Top Films of the year in particular (my very own favorites, of course), but also Posters, Performances, etc (depending on the mood :p). Hope this will be another tradition that I will post every year. The first to be out will be the 10 best movie posters (both teasers and theatricals) that caught my attention. Enjoy!

Special Awards 2010: Top 10 Movie Posters

Seperti tahun sebelumnya, selain adanya 10 Film Terbaik versi Vampibots, gw juga akan melampirkan beberapa 'penghargaan' yang gw akan berikan untuk film-film di tahun 2010. Kali ini, giliran gw membeberkan Top 10 Movie Posters of 2010. Di kategori poster, entah mengapa sulit juga memutuskan yg bisa masuk, minimal 20 besar lah. Karena entah kenapa gw kurang bisa menemukan poster-poster yang bagus dan standout dibanding poster-poster lain. Apakah memang udah kering ide atau gw nya males nyari? Susah nemuin poster film-film arthouse yang notabene lebih banyak memiliki artistic potential ketimbang yg komersil. List gw ternyata didominasi oleh poster-poster teaser yang lets face it, mostly jauh lebih bagus daripada poster theatrical nya. Tanpa banyak basa-basi lagi, this is it, my picks for the best posters!

63rd Cannes Film Festival
Semenjak sedikit kecewa ngeliat poster Academy Awards kemaren, beberapa waktu lalu gw cukup dibikin takjub sama poster Cannes Festival taun ini. Entah kenapa keren banget menurut gw. Walaupun efek BW di Juliette Binoche gak terlalu gw suka, tapi overall, poster festival ini cukup catchy. Lagi tren juga kah memakai teknik bulb? Seperti yg bisa dilihat, pada perhelatannya yg ke 63 ini, Cannes akan diadakan pada tgl 12-23 Mei nanti.

Toy Story 3
Sebenernya poster ini keluar udah lama, baru gw masukin aja kesini. Sebagai salah satu film yang paling gw tunggu2 dan berkeluaran character2 poster dan teasernya, kayaknya baru poster ini yg menurut gw keren. Entah kenapa walaupun terkesan berantakan, tapi bagus. Keliatannya kayak tokoh2nya lagi diletakan di suatu dus.

They caught my eyes pt.11: Scott Pilgrim & A-Team

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Love the color and the the sense of youthful energy this poster brought. Pemilihan font yang customized dan refreshing. Mencerminkan anak muda banget. Ditambah lagi dengan pose Michael Cera dengan gitarnya. So energetic! Jadi tambah gak sabar dengan filmnya yang diangkat dari komik rilis Agustus nanti. Atmosfirnya sedikit mirip dengan Kick Ass. Apakah hype nya juga akan sama? Dari deretan castnya sih oke banget. Sutradaranya juga gak main2 lagi. Can't wait!

The A-Team
Sebenernya teaser poster film remake serial TV tahun 80-an ini udah pernah dipublikasikan sebagai promotional picture beberapa bulan yang lalu. Gw sendiri gak terlalu familiar dengan serial TV nya dan juga gak terlalu nunggu2in film ini banget. Bahkan menurut gw bakal biasa aja. But I can't stand those colors! Hands down, warna yang dipakai poster ini keren banget. Tagline nya juga sedikit menggelitik. A well-done job.

Indonesia's got recognizition by IMP!

Salah satu website yang sering gw buka setiap harinya adalah Internet Movie Poster Awards. Di situs ini, kita bisa nemuin poster film2 paling baru. Gw selalu ngecek situs ini kalau mau tau poster2 film terbaru. Tiap tahunnya, situs ini bikin semacam award untuk poster2 film yang keluar setiap taunnya. Taun ini pemenangnya bisa dilihat disini. Tapi bukan itu yang pengen gw bagi, tapi ada satu kategori yaitu International Highlights yaitu kategori poster2 film internasional yang paling memorable bagi mereka. And yes, Indonesia caught their attention with Pintu Terlarang & Perempuan Berkalung Sorban's posters. Gw gak tau apakah situs ini semacam situs besar disana, tapi tetep aja ada kebanggan tersendiri melihat poster film Indonesia di feature disitu. Keep up the good work guys!

My Most Awaited Movies for 2010

Pertama-tama gw mau mengucapkan Selamat Tahun Baru 2010, semoga tahun ini menjadi tahun yang lebih baik dari tahun lalu. Lagi ketagihan bikin list nih hahaha Berikut ini adalah film-film yang gw tunggu untuk tahun ini....

1. Toy Story 3 (18 June)
My no.1 cartoon series of all time. Period.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt.1 (19 November)
Do I need to say again? I'm a harry potter's die-hard fans
3. Inception (16 July)
Newest flick from one of today's brightest director, C.Nolan. With a whole of amazing cast; GILA!
4. Kick-Ass (16 April)
From the teaser I think this movie is going to be enjoyable. the story is fresh with fresh new faces.
5. Iron Man 2 (7 May)
Sequels can be a disaster. Tapi ketika TDK menangkis cap itu, I get high hopes for Iron Man.
6. Alice In Wonderland (5 March)
Burton + Depp + Bonham-Carter + Hathaway + well-known fairytale + 3D. Need the possible answer?

7. Shutter Island (19 February)
Back then, people had already made predictions for SI winning an Oscar, but then it got postponed. Intriguing.
8. Tron Legacy (17 December)
For all I know, this is a remake. I don't even know the story or the cast from the original one. but the trailer is AWESOME!
9. Date Night (9 April)
Steve Carrell meets Tina Fey. Whoa.
10. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader (10 December)
Disney dropped this after Prince Caspian's disappointing box office. Padahal PC lebih bagus dari yang pertama
11. Salt (23 July)
2 words; Angelina. Jolie.
12. Knight & Day (2 July)
Random pick. Tapi kayaknya seru ngeliat Tom Cruise dan Cameron Diaz akhirnya ketemu lagi.

My most favorite animation series of all time. One of the movies that gave me the reason to love motion pictures. I'll never be as excited as I am right now knowing that they're making the second sequel. Definite must watch and totally worth waiting.

Dari trailernya, udah ketauan banget kalo film ini akan di-rated R, atau Restricted. Yang artinya anak2 dibawah umur gak dianjurkan nntn film ini. Untung udah 17 hahahaha Dari cast nya emang bening2 banget. Apalagi si Megan Fox, body nya mulus bener wkakaka Kmaren lagi hangat2nya isu Megan Fox itu cowok, tapi udah terbukti di E! kalo dia cewek tulen diliat dari foto2 masa kecilnya. Oiya script film ini ditulis sama Diablo Cody, yang pernah menang Oscar lewat script Juno nya yang gemilang itu.

Sebenernya film ini udah premier dari taun kemaren di Toronto Film Festival. Dan taun ini juga udah ditampilkan di Berlin, LA sama Sydney Film Festival. Gw penasaran banget sama film ini, kayaknya pasti seru nih hahaha Walaupun kayaknya gaungnya gak semeriah Shine A Light, film dokumenternya band Rolling Stones dan disutradarai oleh salah satu sutradara favorit gw; Martin Scorsese.

Bonus:
Parrah gw pengen banget nntn film ini cuman gara-gara Zooey Deschanel!! Jrit, maunya apaan sih tuh orang, cantik bener, ngiler gw (worship) hahahahaha tapi katanya juga film nya bagus, jadi makin penasaran deh.

John Mayer's 'Battle Studies' has making-of videos!!

Just a quick update. Back in January 2009, John Mayer announced his upcoming new album's title. It will be "Battle Studies". As a huge fan, I was so excited and became so impatient to know every little detail about the album. But recently, I was busy so I rarely check his website anymore. When I decided to check it again, I found that he has made a series of videos (currently there are 3) which consist the making of his album. SHIIIT!!! Just check here, here, and here. Or you can just go to his website (it will get you straight to the Battle Studies' blog) and read notes or writings about his upcoming album. Surely can't freakin wait! PS: Java Festival next event, Java Soundtastic Festival has listed John Mayer to its Wishlist!!!
